During todays lesson, Chris got us to write a summary of our solution and pitch it to him. We did this as individuals, so that he could give us independent feedback. With plenty of technological research done to prop up my improved idea, I stuck with it and pitched him the details.
Summary
- Coutts pillar, representing structural stability
- Pillar built from two types of cube
- Basic, painted cubes and...
- Glowing, painted, cubes which are interactive
- Interactive cubes would have the title of an archive piece projected onto them, e.g. Charles Dickens
- When an interactive cube's touched, it changes state, projecting a story and image of the article
- A timeout ensures the bricks return back to their default state when not being used
We spoke through the idea; Chris was more fond of it than my initial, 2D display, idea. He had suggestions as to how it could be done, using LCD picture-frames as an example; one could be stuck onto each brick. Chris also showed me how it'd be possible to map onto the pillar in 3D space.
