Extracting Elements

Having just opened the artwork PDF, I'm amazed at the amount of layers I will need to get through to pick out the elements I need. As far as I can see, there are over 800.

My intention is to locate the layers which make up each element and isolate them on a new artboard. I will then be able to export each artboard and position the isolated elements in a new Illustrator document to rebuild the design. I'd better get started...
